Montemor Tunnel in Portugal

OBO products are a part of a restoration project of the Montemor Tunnel in Portugal. For this, special solutions from the areas of Industrial installations and Safety and protection installations are used.

In Portugal, tunnels longer than 500 metres must meet certain safety requirements. The 650-metre long Montemor Tunnel has been in use since 1995 and has not met these requirements recently, for example in terms of fire resistance.

Why did the customer choose OBO products?

For the restoration, OBO products were selected due to the professional responses to technical questions, as well as the fulfilment of all the technical requirements.
After the restoration and installation of the OBO products, the Montemor Tunnel will comply with Directive 2004/54/EC of the European Parliament and Council. The directive describes the minimum safety requirements for tunnels in the trans-European road network.
