Fire protection systems – safe support and routing systems

Besides maintaining fire sections, securing escape routes and maintaining the electrical function of important technical systems are two key goals in the event of fire. OBO offers various solutions from the area of fire-tested support and routing systems.

Maintaining emergency and escape routes

For escape routes, buildings must contain at least one structural escape and rescue route. Installations in this area must not pose an additional fire load. This requirement must be complied with through the appropriate installation types, for example installations above suspended fire protection ceilings or installations in fire protection duct systems.

Maintenance of electrical function of important technical equipment

Important technical equipment, such as emergency lighting, fire alarm systems or extraction systems, must continue to function in the event of a fire. Therefore, it is essential that the power supply for these systems is specially protected. This is especially important in buildings with high foot traffic.

OBO solutions for the maintenance of electrical function

Systems for the maintenance of electrical function include cable trays and cable ladders, vertical ladders, individual routings or junction boxes, such as the FireBox. It is tested and approved for the maintenance of electrical function according to DIN 4102-12. With the FireBox, cables can be connected in a fireproof manner. The cable-specific routing variants for the maintenance of electrical function include the RKS-Magic® cable trays and the GR-Magic® mesh cable trays, which are also tested and approved for the maintenance of electrical function in accordance with DIN 4102-12.

Fire-tested individual routing systems, such as steel pipes, the GRIP M grouped support, metal pressure clips or clamp clips, profile rails and screw-in spacer clips are all part of the OBO systems for the maintenance of electrical function. The standard support structures and routing systems include not only cable trays and cable ladders, but also vertical ladders and strain relief ZSE90.  Strain relief is required when the cables for the maintenance of electrical function are continually routed in a vertical direction. Then, special measures must be taken to prevent an interruption of the electrical circuit in the event of fire. A direct fire load in the area of the clips would mean that the cables are no longer clamped as required and could tear due to their dead weight. With the ZSE90, DIN-conformant and effective support of the vertically installed cables that maintain the electrical supply can be achieved in a way which is economic and space-saving.
