Wind energy

The foundation
The foundation of any wind power plant is an earthing solution. OBO ensures safety with additional ring earth electrodes, flat conductors and round conductors, various terminals and quick connectors, and solutions for the safe connection of the earthing system with the equipotential bonding inside the plant.
The base
Located between the foundation and the tower, the base often contains the control cabinets as well as the surge protective devices of the plant. The following OBO solutions provide extra protection: The MCF (type 1 and 2) lightning arrester family, the PDP plug-in, universal data line protection, the BigBar equipotential busbar and the RKS-Magic plug-in cable tray or the Quick pipe system.
The tower
The tower is the largest component of a wind power plant. All electrical supply lines are routed here. The OBO solution: Cable ladder and vertical ladder systems, hold-down clamps for sturdy cable ladder fastening, profile and mounting rails, clamp clips and robust junction boxes. The weatherproof PYROWRAP® cable bandage reliably prevents fire spreading.
The nacelle
Maximum safety to meet the highest demands – that’s our motto when it comes to the nacelle, the technical heart of the wind turbine. Be on the safe side with the following solutions from the OBO portfolio: V20 surge protective devices, surge protection for high-speed networks, PCD sensor cards for capturing pulse and lightning currents, insulated air-termination rods and isCon® conductors for safe lightning discharge, T2 and D1/C2 surge protection for the tower control and sensors. The cables are routed with GR-Magic® mesh cable trays using via wall and support brackets.
