At OBO, fastening materials fall into the application area of industrial installations, complementing cable support systems and connection and routing systems as a key system component. The OBO anchor – without drilling
It was also a product from the area of fastening materials that shaped our company history and even gave us our brand name: the OBO anchor. In 1952, the first metal anchor that could be knocked into the wall without drilling (“ohne bohren”), thanks to its special construction, was developed. For tradesmen of the time, this not only meant a mounting advantage, but also simplified their work and saved them time. The anchor was a true innovation, with numerous more to follow. Believe it or not, 6 billion OBO anchors have been produced to date. Our innovative spirit has had a name ever since then: OBO, from Ohne Bohren (without drilling), which became our brand name.
A look at the regulatory landscape
When selecting the right fastening material for a specific installation situation, it can help to look at the regulatory environment. During the installation of cables, the current national and international standards must be taken into account, such as DIN VDE 0100 520, which prescribes “suitable agents and methods, which prevent damage or changes to the shape”, for fastening. With large amounts of cables, the appropriate “Load capacities of cables for fixed routing in and on buildings” according to DIN VDE 0298 must be taken into account when selecting fastening systems.
